Learning to Play the Mandolin

Mandolin Grater

Elizabeth has officially become an enabler. First she gave me my very own copy of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and now...she gave me my very own Mandolin! Although I'm a bit musically inclined, we're not talking about an odd looking guitar, we're talking about a high tech slicer/grater gadget (my very first kitchen gadget). If you've ever watched the Food Network's show "Cuthroat Kitchen" you may recall that mandolins seem to shave off more layers of skin than anything else. I think Elizabeth remembered that -- my mandolin has a nifty little handle thing to use instead of fingers. I'm not sure why she's being so nice to me -- maybe her conscience was bothering her since she got ride of our cheese grater...

The best part of this particular mandolin is that it has a 100% satisfaction guarantee! I'm going use it for as many recipes as possible just to ensure that everyone is 100% satisfied with the food. Not only that, but it is compatible with "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" - the guarantee is in French and English: "Garantie. 100% satisfaction garantie. Nous garantissons que ce produit est exempt de tout defaut..." Sounds legit to me.

By the way, in case you don't know what a mandolin is in the world of us skilled chefs -- its an old fashioned food processor that you can use even during a power failure.

We'll see what adventures this takes me on! I'm sure grate things will happen!

Bon Appetit!

You are welcome. As long I get to eat the food, I can help support your habit.
